How Our Valuation Works

Step 1: Send Photos

Share photos of items you think might have value. WhatsApp, email, or our online form - whatever’s easiest. Include multiple angles and any maker’s marks or labels.

Step 2: Preliminary Estimate

Within 24 hours, we’ll provide an initial estimate based on your photos. This gives you a sense of what we might offer.

Step 3: On-Site Valuation

If the preliminary estimate looks promising, we arrange an on-site visit. Our valuator examines items in person, checking condition, provenance, and authenticity.

Step 4: Firm Offer

We make a firm offer for items we want to buy. This is a single total or itemised by piece - your preference.

Step 5: Immediate Payment

Accept our offer and receive payment immediately. We pay by bank transfer or cash, whichever you prefer.

Fair Pricing Explained

We base our offers on current market rates:

• Auction results: What similar items actually sell for
• Dealer prices: What specialist dealers are paying
• Condition assessment: Honest evaluation of wear and damage
• Current demand: What buyers are actually looking for

We’re buyers, not appraisers - we need to make a margin when we resell. But we aim for fair prices that reflect genuine value. If we think something is worth more than we can pay, we’ll tell you and suggest alternatives like auction consignment.

Combined with Clearance

The most common way to use our estate buying service is combined with a house clearance:

1. We visit the property
2. We identify and value items we want to buy
3. We make an offer for those items
4. The value is deducted from your clearance cost
5. We clear everything - purchased items and the rest

This often results in significant savings. We’ve had clearances where the estate purchase completely covered the clearance cost, leaving the client with money in their pocket.

For Expats Abroad

If you’re already overseas, we can conduct initial valuation via video call. Walk us through the property on camera, and we’ll identify items of potential interest. This lets us provide an estimate before any site visit.

For distant clients, we also offer:

• Detailed photo documentation of valuable items
• Shipping arrangements for items you want to keep
• Storage options while you decide

What We Don’t Buy

Being transparent, there are items we typically don’t purchase:

• IKEA and flat-pack furniture (unless nearly new)
• Worn upholstery (unless antique/valuable)
• Standard household items with no collector value
• Damaged items (unless rare/antique)
• Items that need significant restoration

However, even items we don’t buy are disposed of responsibly - recycled, donated, or properly disposed of.
